“Nyman Band” Advertisement
Ink and Digitally Rendered 60” x 40”
The advertisement for the Michael Nyman Band expresses modern and cool sensibilities; its rigid, geometric graphics complement the proposed performance by suggesting a more cerebral experience. The illustration of the Baroque composer is laid out to showcase his authority on the right side and his inclination on the left.
“Wedding Jitters” Spread
Gouache on Illustration Board
Original Illustration: 14” x 10”
Layout Spread: 16” x 21”
This wedding magazine article about curing cold feet was designed with a combination of cursive elegance and bold radiance. Balancing the energetic illustration with the delicate text was crucial, so neither diminishes the power of the other.

“Breakfast At Tiffany’s” DVD Box Set
Ink and Digitally Rendered | 5.5” x 7.5”
The typography surrounding the infamous, though radically realized, illustration of Holly Golightly is posh, uncluttered and fun – just like the film. The layout of the packaging design is based on current Criterion Collection DVD releases, which are heralded by
cinephiles as the top of its class.

“Cinelation” Website
HTML | Digitally Rendered Width: 950px
This user-friendly website presents film reviews, images and video in a stylish and balanced layout. The colour palette is rich with inky blues and a burgundy background. The header is layered with twenty-four characters from my favourite films.
Check out the Cinelation website HERE.

“GermATTAXX!” Website
Flash | Digitally Rendered 954px x 558px
This highly saturated website features rapid animation sequences from the explosive introduction to the graphic elements panning onto the frame. The design and layout is based solely on disciplines from the advertised book.

“GermATTAXX!” Logo
Digitally Rendered Handwork
Along the lines of “RAID!” and “MR. YUK”, professionalism and playfulness is evident in the company logo. Its appeal to children comes across as colourful, yet conveys a serious message about personal hygiene. As a whole, the graphic element resembles a curving exclamation point.

“GermATTAXX!”’ Travel Pack
Design Prototype | 3.5”’ x 4.75”
Based on Fari Eliassi′s concept, the tops of these small travel packs were accurately produced following my final packaging and character designs.

“Incognito” Brochures
Ink and Digitally Rendered Whole Spread: 12” x 9”
Each Spread: 4” x 9”
These interactive brochures are the basis of how one can hide in downtown Vancouver. Folding the panel open reveals an animated scenario of a mysterious stranger blending further into the background. The strange subject matter is expressed by the saturated illustrations and the slanted layout treatment of the type.

“Game Theory” Logo
Digitally Rendered
To engage sophisticated adults, the redesigned logo has been given more weight and balance by the typeface Helvetica Neue Black as well as visual wit. The colours and the substitution of A in GAME with the spade graphic emphasize the theme of playing cards.

“Waldo’s Seafood” Logo
Digitally Rendered
In order to convey a more upscale sensibility, I created a new contemporary brand for this seafood restaurant. By combining the D and O in the name WALDO’S to create a fish graphic, it gives the logo a sense of play and order.

“Idea Grad Show” Poster
Digital Layout | 27” x 20”
The basis of my advertising the IDEA program’s grad show involved elements related to space technology. The abundance of black surrounding the rocket-shaped text illustrates how graduation is like launching off into an unknown future.

”Bard on the Beach” Annual Report Cover
Ink and Digitally Rendered | Each page: 5.25” x 8.5”
The goal of this ”Bard on the Beach” annual report was to marry quirky theatricality with an astute business sense. Drawings of Fifteenth Century caricatures and settings offset the subtle uniformity of the layout’s contemporary feel.

“Bard on the Beach” Annual Report Spread
Ink and Digitally Rendered | Each page: 5.25” x 8.5”
To give this annual report a look crossed with modernism and ancient times, I set Futura type onto a yellowish, tactile background that suggests age. This all gelled successfully with the loose and fanciful illustrations incorporated in the piece.

“Traffic” Movie Poster
Digitally Rendered Handwork | 18” x 30”
I pay homage to Saul Bass with black graphics on the intensely lined and coloured background for the movie poster of Jacques Tati’s “Traffic” (1971). Meshing the facial features of Monsieur Hulot with the flashy automobile reflects the film’s surrealism.

“Atlantis Pedalheads” #15/30
Digitally Rendered | 6” x 6”
This aerial-view image demonstrates how two instructors and their pupils should ride their bikes through an intersection.

“Atlantis Pedalheads” #19/30
Digitally Rendered | 7” x 8.75”
This interactive maze challenges a cyclist’s knowledge of road safety while navigating the route wisely.
